Commercial Recycling General Waste FAQs

Does anything get recycled on the General Waste service?

Absolutely.  We are committed to reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill which is why all the waste we collect on this service is taken to a ‘dirty' MRF (Materials Recycling Facility) where the waste is sorted and the recyclables are recovered.

With the exception of food waste up to 83% of the waste can be recovered for recycling.

What types waste cannot be collected?

For a full listing see our Terms and Conditions which can be downloaded from this site (link).  All waste is now rolled and certain categories of waste may no longer be deposited in a general waste container and have to be disposed of separately.

The following items are some of the things that may not be placed in a general waste bin: hazardous, toxic & contaminated materials must not be placed into the containers.  This includes: fridges, freezers, vdu's either crt's or plasma or any items listed under the W.E.E.E. directives. Fluorescent light tubes, batteries, paint cans, oils, any liquids, raw foods, asbestos, tyres, tarmac, plaster board.

What about glass?

Glass may be put in the bin but if you are likely to have more than one wheely bin of glass per month we can arrange a separate collection that would probably be cheaper for you.

Can I pay a fixed monthly fee by standing order?

Yes.

Can I pay by BACS/Internet banking?

Yes.  All our invoices show our bank details at the bottom.  We are very happy for customers to pay by BACS or Internet Banking.

Can I pay by cheque?

Yes.  Our address is shown on all our invoices. However, it is much greener if you pay by BACS, internet transfer or standing order.  Also this will use less paper and postage and reduce your bank charges.

Can I have my invoice sent by E-mail?

Yes.  Just let us know the email address you would like your invoices to be sent to.

What legal paperwork will I receive?

We will supply you with Duty of Care forms (WTNs) which are the legal documents that detail how you have disposed of your waste.

You must retain these for a minimum of 2 years.  Authorities such as Environmental Protection Officers and Police can demand to see your Waste Transfer Notes at any time.

Bins.

We can provide bins of all sizes from 140 litres to 1280 litres.  The bins are provided free of charge.
